Tray of freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies

Makes about 18 cookies Total Time: 3 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks salted butter

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 3/4 sugar

  • 1 egg, room temp

  • 1 tbsp vanilla

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 cups cake flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 12 oz milk chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium high heat, melt butter, stirring occasionally, until foamy and dark golden flakes appear in the foam.

  2. Pour the butter into a small bowl and refrigerate until almost solid, about an hour.

  3. In the bowl of a stand-mixer, whip butter and both types of sugar until noticeably lighter in color. Mix in egg and vanilla until fully combined.

  4. In a medium bowl, combine flour and baking powder, and then slowly add this into the bowl of the stand-mixer while on low speed.

  5. When just combined, fold in chocolate chips.

  6. Roll dough into 2 tbsp balls and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

  7. Preheat oven to 350°, thawing the cookies slightly while the oven preheats.

  8. Bake cookies spaced at least three inches apart for about 15-20 minutes, depending on your oven, or until golden around the edges.

  9. Enjoy your chewy brown butter chocolate chip cookies!
